Pirate Party .jpeg

Sunday 3rd September, we are having a pirate themed party fundraiser for Katie’s with some of our very favourite and talented musicians having so generously offered to come along and play for us to support our venue. This also falls on the day that, believe it or not, will mark the 7th anniversary of the day we tragically lost our beautiful Elliott and so we thought what better way of remembering and honouring our little bro than dressing up, which he loved, and drinking lots of Jack Daniels, which he also loved, (or rum for the more ardent pirates). Elliott will always be a part of Katie’s and he will always be in our hearts. We really hope that you can join us, We will be starting at 3.00 p.m. and the entrance is on Mamble Road.

THE LONG ROAD – By Shelagh Stephenson

Saturday 9th / Sunday 10th  September

THE LONG ROAD – By Shelagh Stephenson"It's a rare play that hits the news with such cruel topicality ... Stephenson offers a powerful, illuminating piece of dramatic fiction." -(Evening StandardWhen eighteen-year-old Danny is fatally stabbed in a random attack his family struggles to find meaning and forgiveness. His mother's determination to understand the atrocity brings her face to face with his killer and forces the family to confront the bitter senselessness of their loss. Sadly, knife crime in 2023 is a reality, particularly in the West Midlands.  As well as aiming to deliver a first-rate piece of theatre, our wonderful cast and production team would like to raise money to be able to donate to anti knife crime charities. Our cast of professional actors from across the region will also be joined by the awesome Andy Jenkins performing his original songs, some written specially for The Long Road.

Jess Silk

Friday 22nd September 2023  Doors 7pm

Jess Silk is a guitarist, singer and songwriter from the Black Country. Her melodic brand of folk/punk music often has her being likened to a female Frank Turner or Billy Bragg, and it gets people sitting up and listening. Armed only with an increasingly sticker-covered acoustic guitar and a distinctive, gravely voice that many don’t expect, Jess appeared at Glastonbury in 2022 and will be supporting the Levellers ( acoustic ) on their 2023 tour.

Having gone from open spot to closing BBC’s Live at the Apollo in an incredibly short space of time, you will be seeing big things from this big man in the coming few years.

Birdbrother
Ben Wildsmith

Eddy Morton

Friday 29th September 2023. Doors 7.00pm

Birdbrother is a duo which comprises singer songwriter Philip Stapley on guitar and his musical partner Paul Beadle, accomplished multi-instrumentalist and vocalist of the local folk scene for four decades('Journeyman', 'Whiteleaved oak' and 'Splatt'). While Philip’s etheric soothing tones transport the listener to distant melancholic realms, Paul enchants with his energetic and unique performance. Playing mostly original songs of love, life and spirituality which paint a romantic yet melancholy picture. Since 2018 we have played at a variety of venues including ‘Kitchen garden cafe’, ‘Narrowboat sessions’, ‘Katie Fitzgerald’s’ and ‘Ludlow green fair’ Birdbrother formed originally as a Sussex based duo in 2011 with Kris Lamba and recorded their album 'Peace to the wanderer'.

Ben Wildsmith is a Birmingham born singer / songwriter who relocated from Stourbridge to the wilds of Wales several years ago . With his strong fingerpicking style Ben explores the urban myths and madness of humanity, drawing inspiration from classic blues and country folk . He now lives in his spiritual home the Rhondda, and writes excoriating and at times entertaining columns for Nation Cymru.
